Welcome to my blog Lipstick or Prayer! I am really excited to share stories and experiences I have had with the Lord. I really believe that this is the perfect forum to hear other people’s stories and to encourage, strengthen and pray for each other. I pray that this blog allows the reader to feel the presence and love of God!
We live in a fast paced technologically advanced society. Our iPads, droids, iPhones and other communication devices become the center of our universe. We have DVD players and In Demand so choosing what to entertain us is as easy as pushing play. Our movies and video games astound our senses and keep us glued as the special effects become bigger and more realistic. In this day and age of so much stimulation how can God get our attention? If He did would we recognize it?
In the bible God would often use miracles to show His glory and His power. God parted the Red Sea for Moses and the Israelites to assure an escape from the Egyptian army. Elijah the prophet was fed bread during a famine by ravens that were sent by God. Three Jews Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were thrown into a fiery furnace to be burned, but God delivered them out of it without even their clothes being scorched. There are so many miracles listed in the bible. In the Old Testament the prophets wrote of the many incredible miracles God had done and in the New Testament the apostles wrote of the miracle they had seen performed by Jesus. It encourages us to read how God could take a very hopeless situation and completely turn it around. We read how the dead were raised to life, the sick were healed, the prisoners were set free and the amazing supernatural phenomenons that still leave us in awe!
It says in the book of Psalms Give thanks to the Lord of lords.
His faithful love endures forever. Give thanks to him who alone does mighty miracles.
His faithful love endures forever. (Psalm 136:3, 4 NLT) I believe that God does miracles to show us He loves us! The question that is asked is does God still do miracles?I believe He does!
I have heard stories of the miraculous on TV shows. How people who had terminal illness and then were suddenly healed! Stories of people who were involved in accidents or natural disasters who walked away unharmed. Very recently I had a friend who during Hurricane Sandy was struck down by a tree limb. As he fell to the wet ground he felt a surge of electricity begin to shoot through his work boot. He realized he was touching a live wire. My friend called for help from neighbors and then from then Lord above. He begged God to save him when all of a sudden another tree fell to the ground knocking off the wire. He quickly jumped to his feet and ran for safety. He later told me that God saved me I just know it!! That’s what I call a miracle!
I have another story of someone close to me who was going through an extremely difficult financial situation. Crying to me she explained how she had no money, no food, no job and no way out!! I told her that God would provide a way and she would be ok. Two days later she recieved a check for a large amount of money that came from a very unexpected place. She called me with tears telling me how God saved her!! That’s a miracle!!
I believe we need to look for the miracles. The glory of God that shines in the midst of our storms. The reminder that we are not alone and God cares for us. We need to turn off our cell phones, TV, computers and start to look for God! Start to notice the little miracles that God is doing in your life. You may think that God has never done anything for you, but you need to look deeper! The hardest time to see a miracle is when things look the bleakest. It those times that I believe God shines the brightest!
