Walking as a Christian can be tricky at times. We feel as though we are walking on a tight rope. We are trying to balance between God and the world. Always making sure that with each step we take we don’t fall down.
Why is it so important to always do the right thing? Why do we feel like we have to be perfect? We ask God this question in every difficult situation we encounter. I have struggled many times with trying to do what is right. It’s just so easy to stay in anger or in judgement isn’t it? I have felt that nudge from God reminding me to forgive, no gossiping, don’t judge or stay in peace. I would say to Him “Everybody else can do it then why can’t I”? The answer was very simple! He didn’t want me to have rotten fruit!!
As a daughter of God I represent My Father even if I’m not aware of it. What I do, say or how I act says a lot about The Kingdom I belong too. God uses us His children as ambassadors or representatives to show others about His character. We are being judged all the time by people who don’t know God. If we act like everyone else how do they see God in us? In the bible it says “Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience”(Colossians 3:12 NLT).
If we are judging, condemning, gossiping, lying, cheating or hating how can we be righteous and holy? We can’t!
We are hiding the fact that we have been changed by God! We need to show that we are loved by our Heavenly Father and therefore we should walk in love. The problem is we don’t always do it!
I think TV Evangalist Joyce Meyer say it best when she said “I’ve seen many Christians who act like they got baptized in vinegar rather than The Holy Spirit!”
I’m not judging but in the bible it says “Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy” (Ephesians 4:24 NLT). We are a new creature once we become children of the Kingdom and we get new provisions given to us from The Holy Spirit!
The Holy Spirit allows us to walk through this life with joy, peace and love. These are just some of the gifts of The Holy Spirit in the bible it says “But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!” (Galatians 5:22, 23 NLT)
God gives us His power and strength of love, joy, peace and all the rest to show the world His true nature. In the book of Mathew it says “Yes, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit, so you can identify people by their actions.” (Matthew 7:20 NLT) People will look at how we conduct ourselves and inspect our fruit!
I know that once we discover the love of God we want to share it with everybody! We want to go out and bring the entire population to know the truth about our Heavenly Father. We try to talk, preach and sometimes shout how much they need God. When all we really do is scare them far away from ever getting anywhere near God. Jesus was the perfect example of how to bring others to God all he did was love, give, understand and forgive. The truth is we need to be so different than anybody else they know. We have to let the good fruit we produce speak the words and show the love! I have a picture in my home that reads ” Live in such a way that those who know you, but don’t know God come to Know God because they know you!” Now that’s good fruit!
